This has given me a lot to think about. I have recently moved away from most hobbies except swimming which brings me peace and gives me exercise.
I have been trying to put my finger on WHY I am no longer invested in my former community after being on fire for over a decade. I am just feeling meh about all of it. All of it except the writing…..so maybe that is something I need to look at. Thank you!
In the months since writing this, I wavered. I sold some of my art and music stuff, but kept other bits, wondering if maybe soon would be the time to pick it up like I always dreamed I would.
Then I got into another hobby - programming, of all things - and realized, if you have to cajole yourself into doing something, you don't like it. Not fully, not in the way one should enjoy hobbies. I never have to cajole myself into programming or playing Baldur's Gate or riding my bike.
I have felt very comfortable leaving these old should-have hobbies behind since then. (:
Food for thought here :-) Thanks!
